What are the effects of taking kratom?

What you experience when taking kratom depends on many factors.

Kratom effects are based on your body chemistry, the kratom vein color, leaf characteristics, origin locality, type (powder, resin, extract, tincture), dose amount.

Kratom generally has three main qualities: pain relief, mood boost, and energizing.

Kratom is not FDA approved for the treatment of any medical condition. 

Effects by kratom leaf color.

Red vein kratom helps pain sufferers.

Green vein kratom relieves pain, with less sedation.

White vein kratom is for energy.

Effects by dose amount.

Small doses (2 to 4 grams, or 1 to 2 teaspoons) energize.

Medium doses (5 to 8 grams, or 2 1/2 to 4 teaspoons) relieve pain.

Large doses (9 to 12 grams, or 4 1/2 to 6 teaspoons) sedate.

Effects by Kratom Classification

Maeng Da is a term typically used to signify connoisseur grade, high potency kratom. Thus, maeng da kratom tends to be the most powerful, delivering more intense effects than regular kratom.

Plantation refers to kratom not growing wild, but being cultivated on kratom farms. Often these strains of kratom are grown and processed to provide extra strong effects.

Horn refers to when the kratom leaf grows a bit longer than usual, producing little horn-like protrusions, which changes the alkaloid profile and makes it stronger than less mature plants.

Elephant means the kratom leaves were allowed to grow to a super giant size, like elephant ears, and being more mature, the alkaloid profile is unique, with potency increased greatly.

Effects by Kratom Form

Resin is a tar-like substance derived from kratom powder. Resin is a more powerful type of kratom, a concentrated version, so it's for extreme situations and not for beginners.

The extraction process is easy and can be done at home.

Enhanced refers to kratom that has been enriched with kratom extract or resin.

Powder when directly taken, then washed down, or is mixed with a carrier substance, such as applesauce, provides effects faster than kratom in capsules, since the body has to dissolve the gelatin capsules before the kratom powder can be released.
